Program Director 2 (Finance)
1. Oversees a large department, program or center.
2. Manages budget and engages in strategic planning to ensure all goals are met.
3. Hires and directs the activities of staff.
4. Resolves personnel issues as they arise.
5. Engages in budget-planning, grant oversight, and policy development.
6. Implements new programs and projects and monitors ongoing activities of department or center.
7. Reviews department policies and processes and implements improvements as needed.
8. Represents department or center to internal and external constituents.
9. Performs other job-related duties as required.
MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.
Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience and experience in lieu of education.

This position works with the Friends fundraising board, the UH WGSS academic program, and its IRWGS research group (roughly 40/30/30%).
The PD2 serves as point person for the Friends of WGSS, supporting the FWGSS board and advisory council, planning and running events and communications, and assisting with fundraising. The PD2 works closely with FWGSS on the annual Table Talk luncheon in Spring, coordinates board and advisory council meetings, liaises with UH Development, and other tasks as needed.
In WGSS, the PD2 supervises student workers and assists with event planning for the
academic program, which has a major, a minor and a grad certificate. The PD2 also assists with growing and representing the academic program in coordination with program faculty and WGSS students.
On the IRWGS side, the PD2 provides some administrative support, working closely with the IRWGS research team to coordinate communications, plan research events (including a Fall summit), identify grant-writing opportunities, coordinate projects, andother tasks as needed.
