BUSINESS UNIT: TERMINALS
Kinder Morgan is the largest independent terminal operator in North America, providing a strong, reliable network of 144 terminals serving our customers' storage, distribution, blending and logistical needs. Our terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils and other products. We have a combined liquids storage capacity of approximately 151 million barrels and handle about 59 million tons of dry bulk materials annually.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Responsibilities include assisting Terminal Manager with all aspects of bulk handling operations; training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints ; resolving problems and responsible for safe and efficient movement of bulk cargoes operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supervise employees, assigning job tasks as necessary for the movement of coke and maintenance of the coke handling equipment and facilities.
• Follows and enforces all rules and procedures established by Kinder Morgan for the safe and efficient operation of Petcoke handling equipment.
• Observes for compliance of safety rules and procedures.
• Assures that new employees are trained as necessary for tasks to be performed.
• Job Postings - must create and follow through to completion on the hiring of employees.
• Understands and can communicate understanding to others of petroleum coke movement operations and bulk material handling operations.
• Train and develop subordinates in petroleum coke unloading and loading operations.
• Work with the electrical and maintenance crew with electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic maintenance and repair of conveyor machinery.
• Assist workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
• Help control spare parts inventory, prepare requisitions and purchase material in compliance with Kinder Morgan's purchase order and P-card procurement policy.
• Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
• Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
• Interprets specifications, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
• Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
• Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product handling.
• Has understanding and grasp of environmental impact of petroleum coke handling operations.
• Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of coke yard, train loading, track department, and/or work crews.
• Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
• Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
• Maintains payroll, overtime, and vacation documentation and works with the Admin. Assistant regarding employee time records and weekly time sheets issues.
Position Requirements
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred; or two to five years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE / SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:
• Must be able to understand the needs of the business unit(s) for which development work is being performed.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency level in Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and other Office Suite general products.
• Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including but not limited to the ability to present ideas, proposals, and results to business segment leaders.
• Ability to organize and prioritize daily work, including tracking and managing small projects and see projects to completion while maintaining strict confidentiality as necessary.
• Must be able to successfully and simultaneously manage multiple tasks, and work with minimal direct supervision.
• Must possess general understanding of how corporate policies, procedures, practices and processes relate to the Petcoke business segment, associated business units.
• Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), high degree of attention to details, follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedules.
• Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge/understanding of bulk materials handling.
• Must have the ability to communicate this knowledge/understanding.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Must pass and complete safety training /certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by Kinder Morgan.
• Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and have willingness to use personal and/or company vehicle in the course of employment
• Must pass and complete any required Kinder Morgan specific safety training as may be required by customers and as required at all Kinder Morgan work locations.

• Solid leadership, communication, motivation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage projects) that will include working with individuals with varying disciplines, backgrounds and experience levels
• Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
• The ability to accept after-hour call-outs and weekend duty in rotation.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
• Supervise up to 30 +/- employees in the bulk terminal and rail car loading facility by providing the overall
direction, coordination, and evaluation of workers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
