Theatrical Engineer (Creative Design)
Design of theatrical and music performance spaces. Focusing on the rigging, stage systems and performance lighting for theaters and presentation spaces. Design of sound, video and projection equipment a plus.
Collaborate with architects and end users to evaluate and improve existing performance spaces and design new spaces.
Perform troubleshooting and provide recommendations for theatrical rigging, performance lighting and live sound systems to prevent and resolve issues.
Support end user's technical staff to understand their needs and provide technical support during events.
Stay updated with the latest theatrical technology and safety trends to recommend upgrades or improvements.
Train theater staff on the proper use of rigging, lighting, sound and video equipment.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Theatre Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Proven experience in theatrical system design and installation.
Strong knowledge of rigging, audio, video, and lighting equipment.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work flexible hours if needed, including evenings and weekends.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Certification in Theatrical rigging (e.g., ETCP) is a plus.
Certification in AV technology (e.g., CTS, CTS-D) is a plus.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Work environment is primarily indoors at firms' facility, with approximately 10% of time spent indoors/outdoors at project or construction sites where hard-hat and other safety gear is often required. (PPE is provided by firm.)
While performing field work associated with this position employees will be required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl and carry and/or climb ladders of varying heights. The employee may lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
