To that end, F5 has announced a new AI Center of Excellence (AI COE).
The AI CoE Architect will be a part of the AI Center of Excellence, playing a critical role in driving innovation and facilitating AI/ML initiatives that will directly impact business goals across F5's product portfolio. This role will help establish F5 as a leader in the competitive marketplace by accelerating the integration of AI into F5's products, enabling data-driven decision-making, and fostering cross-organizational collaboration and innovation.
We are looking for an experienced AI Architect to lead the design, development, and governance of AI-powered solutions within our organization. In this role, you will be responsible for defining scalable AI architectures, ensuring seamless integration of AI models into production systems, and establishing best practices. You will work closely with data scientists, ML engineers, software architects, and business stakeholders to enable AI-driven innovation while maintaining performance, reliability, and ethical AI principles.
This role requires a deep understanding of AI/ML systems, cloud infrastructure, MLOps practices, and enterprise AI governance.
The ideal candidate is a solid technical leader with deep experience working with various AI techniques, including Generative AI, and a strong track record of providing thoughtful analysis and data-driven insights for multiple business areas. Clients supported by this Architect will include various product stakeholders and functional teams, so experience effectively managing multiple simultaneous projects in various focus areas is a must. Strong experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods is also critical to success in this role, as is hands-on knowledge of a variety of data tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms, and creating/running simulations.
Responsibilities:
Serve as a key technical advisor on AI strategy, guiding and solutioning with product teams on AI adoption and architectural decisions
Work with business leaders to translate AI capabilities into tangible business outcomes.
Stay up-to-date with emerging AI trends, technologies, and frameworks, and assess their potential impact on the organization
Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, software developers, and DevOps teams to implement AI solutions
Own the outcomes for multiple projects, leading architectural designs, solutions, development, and implementation across products, services, projects, and systems. Work cross-functionally to drive common architectural decisions.
Utilize breadth and depth of domain knowledge to develop new approaches to products, systems, services, and technologies.
Design end-to-end AI architectures that support model training, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
Take ambiguous and deep technical problems and make them easily managed, governed, repeatable, and consumable.
Track and actively engage with the AI research community, including speaking, industry events, white papers, publications, etc.
Example tasks you might work on include customizing foundational LLMs, augmenting them to provide reliable results, and guiding others in designing and constructing AI-based applications.
Develop and implement AI infrastructure strategies that scale across cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) and on-premise environments.
Ensure seamless integration of AI models into existing enterprise systems, APIs, and data pipelines.
Define reference architectures for AI-driven applications, including real-time inference, batch processing, and edge AI solutions.
Select and implement AI frameworks, tools, and best practices that align with business needs and technical constraints.
Provide mentorship and training on AI best practices across the company.
Qualifications:
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field preferred
The ability to become a recognized expert in multiple technology domains across the F5 portfolio, based on their contributions and technical leadership
Consistently exhibits the ability to quickly grasp, evaluate, and integrate new ideas and technologies to foster innovation
Strong track record of growing and influencing others, working with all levels of leadership, and fostering engagement across teams
Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development
Knowledge of various machine learning techniques and their real-world advantages/drawbacks
Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, proper usage, etc.) and application experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
Industrial experience in fine-tuning LLMs, especially for instruction-following and coding models
Pivotal Experience & Expertise
AI Technical Acumen
Demonstrated excellence in engineering and product delivery required. Master's or PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field from an accredited institution a minimum requirement.
Brings a strategic mindset to driving innovative product enhancements while thriving in fast-paced environments.
Cross-Collaboration
Strong communicator, able to explain complex AI/ML solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experienced in collaborating with multi-functional teams—including data scientists, engineers, product management, and business stakeholders—to define and achieve strategic AI objectives. Skilled at working with diverse teams to build roadmaps and ensure successful integration of AI/ML technologies.
Business Acumen
Strong technology expertise paired with a sharp business perspective and recognized industry experience enables the individual to excel in dynamic environments.
They deliver impactful AI/ML solutions across various business units and product lines, define programming standards, and address complex challenges to foster innovation and drive business success.

The annual base pay for this position is: $242,360.00 - $363,540.00F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5's differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
