Aquatics Supervisor (Personal Services)
Position Summary:
The Aquatics Supervisor at the Tamaya Wellness Center(TWC) oversees all aquatics activities and aquatics staff. This position is responsible for ensuring safety, cleanliness and guest satisfaction within the aquatics area. Responsible for training and scheduling aquatics area employees. Ensures all policies and procedures are adhered to.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintains and repairs pumps and motors in and around the pool and spa areas. To include sauna area.
Maintains records of work orders and jobs completed.
Assist in training & certification of aquatic center staff.
Maintains open lines of communication with all staff and the Aquatics Manager.
Supervises and provides recreation and aquatic programs for all Tribal and community members and Tribal Employees.
Supervises and delivers safe and age-appropriate programs including early childhood physical Education programs, after-school and break programs, wellness programs, summer youth programs, swimming activities, and athletic activities.
Responsible for scheduling lifeguards, to ensure that adequate coverage of the aquatics area is maintained during operational hours.
Delivers exceptional customer service to all patrons of the TWC.
Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
Coordinate and provide general direction and development in evaluation of staff.
Ensures safety in the pool area at all times.
Assist in aquatic facilities to include operation, water quality and safety of equipment.
Coordinates, with other departments for recreational programs.
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in a related field preferred. May consider an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience. Must have 2-4 years of related experience. Knowledge of pool chemistry, CPO certification, American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification required. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and
background investigation including a motor vehicle check. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico drivers license and be insurable under the Pueblos insurance.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Certifications:
Ability to effectively supervise, lead and direct the work of others.
Ability to work under limited supervision.
Must have strong customer service skills.
Must possess a Certification in Lifeguard Instructor (LGI).
Knowledge of Wellness Center and Tribal rules regarding facility use and operation.
Knowledge of general safety rules, equipment, games, and operating procedures.
Knowledge of general safety requirements and procedures.
Must be able to work night and weekend shifts.
Knowledge of First Aid and CPR/AED.
Physical Demands:
Specific required movements include the following: Trunk-bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, carry. Arms-reach, carries, lifts, twists, and rotates. Legs- lift, push, pull, twist, and rotate. Hands-grasp, manipulate, bilateral coordination, eye, and hand coordination. Must be able to lift up 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Duties may involve walking, standing for long periods of time, sitting and crouching, swimming, water rescues and practice. Duties also involve adjusting pool chemistry and equipment when necessary.
Position Notes
Must be able to work long hours under occasionally stressful conditions. Subject to hazards that may cause personal bodily harm, smoke, common colds, influenza, dust, odors, chemicals, and elevated noise levels. Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard, soft, and slippery surfaces. Also on soft carpeted floors, cement structures, aquatic related entertainment equipment and structures.
