The Broker Dealer Financial Reporting team has an opening for a Manager to join the team. This Manager will be responsible for all accounting and financial reporting activities of the broker dealers.
The Broker Dealer Financial Reporting team within Corporate Controllers is responsible for preparing legal entity financial statements (both GAAP and regulatory) for three Broker Dealer (“BD”) entities including Prudential Investment Management Services (“ PIMS”), Pruco Securities (“PRUCO”), and Prudential Annuities Distributors Inc. (“PAD”). These entities are registered with the SEC and are the distributors of various securities products, including Prudential's proprietary mutual funds and variable life and annuity products. These BD entities are members of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Inc (“FINRA”). PIMS also acts as a clearing broker responsible for execution, clearance & other services for the daily mutual fund trading activity in Prudential Retirement Services' (“PRS”) mutual fund platform.
The current EWA for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.
What you can expect:
Responsible for the preparation, assembly, and critical review of regulatory and GAAP financial statements & supporting analyses for Prudential's three broker dealers including:
o Monthly FINRA FOCUS report filing
o Monthly financial results analyses and due diligence
o Quarterly board reporting
o Quarterly FINRA Supplemental Schedule of Income report filing
o Quarterly FINRA Off Balance Sheet report filing
o Quarterly SEC 17-H and Annual Risk Assessment report
o Semi-Annual SIPC report filing and payment
o Annual FINRA FOCUS report filing
o Annual audited SEC filed financial statements (60 day filing deadline).
Manage, motivate, develop & supervise a team of 3 - 4 staff including Associate Manager, rotation, external contracted and intern level associates. This includes responsibility for the half and full year performance management cycles (objective setting, Individual Development Plans, and performance appraisals).
Active engagement and partnering with Broker Dealer Business, Finance, Legal, Compliance and Operations associates in managing Broker Dealer related financial risk, control and compliance related matters.
Work closely with internal and external audit teams, regulators and examiners.
Ensure on-going compliance with all existing and emerging regulatory and GAAP reporting requirements of a registered broker-dealer.
Manage the general accounting & financial reporting responsibilities including preparation and review of monthly GAAP financial statements & supporting analyses. Also includes extensive partnering & support with key business partners.
Manage the preparation and review of monthly SEC Rule 15c3-1 (Net Capital) and weekly SEC Rule 15c3-3 (customer protection) computation & compliance, (segregated cash balances wired timely into Special Reserve bank account).
Responsibility for development and review of financial support including account analyses, trade blotters, registered representative count, and trade statistics.
Act as primary interface with examiners and auditors in the conduct of their periodic reviews of the broker dealers. Coordinate assembly and distribution of FINRA examination and PwC audit schedule requests.
What you'll need:
Undergraduate degree in Accounting
Experience in BD accounting & financial reporting
Solid general understanding of financial markets, insurance and investment products
Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
Strong PC skills including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities simultaneously.
Ability to work independently and as a part of various teams
Adaptable to change and transition
Self-motivated and highly proactive in offering constructive solutions
Ability to work overtime required during peak periods
It'd be a plus if you had:
CPA license
FINRA Series 27 or 99 registration
Experience with Oracle G/L system
