Facility Attendant (Finance)

SUMMARY:
The Facility Attendant ensures the highest standards of customer service and patron experience for The Lincoln Center & Community Center for Creativity - City of Fort Collins. This position acts as front-line staff for all building activities and building security, reporting to the Facility Services Coordinator. Provides support as an individual contributor or part of team in the areas of facility, performance, and event preparation. Sets up and dismantles equipment, tables, chairs, audio visual equipment, marker boards, flip charts, and kitchen equipment in all areas of the facility. Assists clients and full-time staff as needed. In addition, performs custodial responsibilities throughout the facility as required to maintain facility safety, appearance, service to public and operational status.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.
-Functions as a member of a team and works collaboratively with their co-workers to provide specific activities, resources, and services to the public.
-Sets up and dismantles equipment throughout the facility.
-Maintains audio-visual equipment and supplies, facilitates repairs, and maintains inventory.
-Is responsible for all the needs of the events and activities while on duty.
-Coordinates with the Facility Services Assistant and/or Facility Services Coordinator to provide a well maintained and clean facility.
-Provides custodial services throughout the facility as needed and repairs or reports any deficiencies to their supervisor.
-Monitors and secures the facility as needed.
-Monitors kitchen safety and safe food handling when caterers are present.
-Snow removal with shovels, blowers, broom, etc. and maintain sidewalks and patio as needed.
-Typically work unsupervised, utilizing relationships with co-workers to ensure building readiness and safety.
-Patrol, monitor, and subsequently clean all surfaces within the building and the exterior grounds.
-Cleans lint, dust, and dirt from offices, meeting rooms, hallways, lobbies, rest rooms, theatres, dressing rooms and other work areas.
-Cleans rugs, carpets, and furniture.
-Dusts and polishes furniture and equipment.
-Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork. Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
-Empties wastebaskets, transports trash and waste to disposal area.
-Empties recycling receptacles and transports to disposal area.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is not responsible for the supervision of employees.
City Competencies
Education and Experience:
-High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
-Must be proficient in English with the ability to read, speak, understand, and write.
-Multilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
-One year custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, event setup, kitchen experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
-Ability to interpret and apply reason, common sense, good judgment and understanding to carry out detailed instructions furnished in written, oral, diagramed, and formatted scheduling instructions.
-Ability to take direction from supervisor or team lead and act individually.
-Ability to solve and implement practical solutions to problems.
-Foresee and initiate proactive measures to ensure program quality, customer service and facility safety and integrity.
-Experience (6 months or more in: Custodial, Janitorial, AV or Audio-Visual, Event Setup, commercial kitchen, hospitality, facility maintenance, dishwashing)
Certificates and Licenses:
-Preferred CPR/First Aid/AED Certification
-Preferred Food Safety & Handling Certification
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
-Physical/Labor intensive work including movement for up to 8 hours at a time.
-Traversing long distances, on a multi-level building using stairs, corridors, or elevators.
-Frequently, bend, twist, kneel, stoop, crawl, reach, pull and push, which may require work on the floor or in tight spaces.
-Strength and stamina enough to operate cleaning equipment, move objects up to 50 pounds Push/Pull wheeled items up to 150 lbs.
-Work in a stationary position while sitting or standing.
-Using hands to reach or grasp. Manual dexterity enough to operate equipment and tools.
-Make continuous or repetitive arm-hand movements including tasks requiring a full range of motion to reach up and out.
-Use of and climbing of ladders. The employee is occasionally required to stand, ascend/descend, or balance at a height up to 20ft.
-Vision enough to operate equipment and distinguish between items on written & electronic means of communication, including chemical labels & safety data sheets.
-Communication skills to interpret work schedules, job duties and convey information to the public and supervisor.
Working Environment:
-Work is performed in multi-use performing arts and conference facilities which have a dynamic and changing event and activity schedule.
-Work variable hours including early morning, afternoon, evening, and late-night shifts both during the week, weekends, and some holidays. Employees will work alone or as an unsupervised team. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
