Murphy Oil Corporation
Advisor, Reservoir Engineering (Finance)
Job Summary
Murphy Reservoir Engineering Advisors are recognized as subject matter experts within the organization and impact business through support of multiple assets, play key roles in major projects, and have a multi-year track record as key value creators. Additionally, they actively mentor, train and provide input on staff development, including both coursework and on-the-job experiences to grow technical abilities. They are often selected as functional representatives for corporate and technical-focused activities and initiatives, helping to set direction as a technical expert within the company. Advisors also participate in the evaluation and selection of new tools and technology, looking for viable applications of machine learning/artificial intelligence to supplement the knowledge of our technical staff to shorten cycle times on opportunity evaluations.
Specifically, supporting maturation of drilling opportunities is a major part of the role, requiring close collaboration with a strong team of geoscientists to optimize development options while balancing risks and uncertainties within a fit-for purpose value assurance framework. Troubleshooting well performance problems and providing recommendations on workovers and stimulation treatments are also important. Underpinning the above scope is a detailed understanding of the reserves process and economic analysis for accurate SEC reserve assessments. Execution of these roles may include direct involvement on a project but will often be through technical reviews and direct mentorship of other reservoir engineers to help build their technical skillsets over time.
Advisor-level professionals are recognized by the industry as key resources in their field of expertise. They attend technology conferences and seminars to stay up to date on industry developments and new technologies. They serve as role models in professional and ethical behavior, develop and foster strong networks within and outside the company, and drive multiple initiatives to promote continuous improvement and quality outcomes throughout the organization. They utilize their business knowledge to develop clear strategies, identify transformational business opportunities, and justify essential resources.
The Reservoir Engineering Advisor will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remotely.
