Informaticist - Remote (Information Technology)
SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to provide strategic and technical support to informatics executives and management to meet the goals and objectives of specific public health programs, in alignment with agency mission. This position serves as an informatics subject matter expert regarding public health programs and in the development, maintenance, operation, enhancement, and configuration of data systems and informatics capabilities to address the needs of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and in service to the local health jurisdictions, and other public health and healthcare sector partners across California. Provides leadership and conducts complex scientific and information assessments to support public health policies and practices, including community health improvement, decision support, and stakeholder engagement. The Informaticist must be able to work in a complex environment with national, state, and local professionals in public health, epidemiology, evaluation, and information technology.
The Informaticist may contribute to development of agency-wide informatics architectures, use of data standards, and solutions to issues of interoperability, security and confidentiality, and integration. This position may provide leadership on and conduct complex scientific and informatics assessment to support public health policies and practices, including promotion of health equity, community health improvement, decision support, and stakeholder engagement. Informaticist will contribute mastery of informatics subject matter and expert ability to operationalize, use, and process data on a detailed level for system maintenance, design of new systems and processes, and emergency troubleshooting.
The Informaticist also develops and leads teams to determine the best ways to collect that data and also works with top executives on an overall strategy for implementing data analytics technology. The role may also support automation and improving operations by reducing paperwork, sharing information across platforms and departments, and reducing duplicative efforts, while supporting data program performance, data collection, data management, privacy, information architecture, and service delivery.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Salary range: $104,000 to $117,000 annually depending on experience/qualifications.
