Associate Manager, Financial Reporting (Finance)

Finance & Accounting - Finance & AccountingPrudential Financials Inc.'s (PFI) Open Architecture Solutions (OAS) team is seeking a skilled and highly motivated individual to fill an Associate Manager, Controller role for Gibraltar Reinsurance Company Ltd. (Gib Re) based in the U.S. and reporting to the OAS Director, Controller. This position will coordinate and support many of the controllership and financial reporting activities for Gib Re, a Bermuda based affiliated reinsurance company.
The Associate Manager will assist with all reporting and analysis requirements, including quarterly and annual results reporting on a PFI consolidated basis and local stand-alone entity regulatory reporting basis. This includes reporting on a U.S. GAAP, Local Bermuda Statutory, and Economic Balance Sheet basis. The successful candidate will also assist with other activities including accounting policy, coordination of external audit requirements, and supporting unique reinsurance transactions and capital management initiatives. Bermuda's reporting frameworks are principles based and will have similarities to U.S. GAAP Fair Value and other international frameworks. The position offers the opportunity to gain a broad set of experiences across a range of finance subject areas, and to collaborate across finance and non-finance teams, including Actuarial, CIO, ALM, Investment Ops, and several corporate areas (Controllers, Tax).
The current employee work arrangement for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.
What you can expect:
Support the preparation of timely management reporting and analysis to meet needs of Bermuda management team / local board, as well as internal PFI stakeholders.
Detail key business earnings drivers, including underwriting results, investment results, expense drivers, and taxes.
Support the actuals reporting for Gib Re standalone US GAAP financials, statutory financials, and Economic Balance Sheet (EBS).
Work closely with Financial Services Organization (FSO) teams to complete the quarterly close process and support annual U.S. GAAP and Bermuda Statutory audit requirements.
Support production of quarterly and annual Bermuda solvency return / regulatory reporting requirements for Gib Re, including the Capital and Solvency Return (CSR), which contains the Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirement (BSCR) and associated schedules.
Research technical accounting and reporting issues as they arise. Support the preparation of accounting policy documentation, including for capital management projects, unique reinsurance transactions, and new accounting guidelines.
Support the control activities for related processes.
What you'll need:
Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, or business-related field with 3+ years of accounting and financial reporting experience.
Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite, especially Excel skills for data analysis including PivotTables, using INDEX MATCH functions, creating charts and forecasts, and using trending tools.
Strong understanding of US GAAP and/or Statutory accounting and reporting.
Attention to detail and demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to identify interrelationships among components of financial information and to understand and document key drivers of earnings and significant financial trends.
Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to break down sophisticated financial or actuarial concepts and communicate them to all levels of management.
It'd be a plus if you have:
Advanced degree, MBA, or CPA.
Understanding and proven experience with life insurance accounting and actuarial concepts.
Strong working knowledge of Oracle, SQB, FDW, Web ADI templates and how to develop journal entries.

Prior experience and familiarity with Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirement and/or Solvency II frameworks as it applies to long-term reinsurance operations.
