Electrical Engineer II (Finance)

The ability to analyze existing circuit loading and phase balancing throughout the existing and planned system using Milsoft software or similar planning tools and maintain system planning models. Experience utilizing ArcGIS to create project overview plans is a plus. Ability to assist in the creation of a 10-year Capital Improvement Plan as it relates to forecasted growth within the City of Fort Collins to aid in budgeting and prioritization. Will require collaboration with internal staff and regional planning authorities to anticipate changes to system-wide operations. Ability to aid Development Engineering to understand complex voltage drop and flicker scenarios to ensure electric system design standards and best practices are maintained. Engineering work related to ensuring the safety and efficiency of the electric distribution system through the development and application of design standards, Electric Service Standards, as well as providing training for designers, lineworkers, and operations personnel.

Some positions may require functionally related certification or advanced degrees Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, or equivalent education and experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Evaluate, record, and track material and equipment failures to find root cause of failures.Perform data-driven analysis of material and equipment failures to identify trends of failures to initiate proactive maintenance programs and processes to support Light & Power's electrical distribution system reliability goals and metrics. Coordinates with industry technical experts and manufacturing representatives to provide electrical product knowledge training for Light & Power staff and support installation of equipment per Utilities Light and Power construction standards and guidelines.Apply knowledge of electrical engineering and related disciplines to support the development and revision of materials specifications and construction standards for electric materials and equipment consistent with acceptable practices and standards.Assists in the analysis and review of quotations, proposals, and bids to help in analysis of total owning cost and conformance to specifications.Assists in the development of technical specifications and stock item descriptions using available information from vendors and industry.Seeks input and works with user personnel to help development and revision of guidelines and standards to support continuous improvement.Supports field or design personnel with technical support and questions related to the implementation of specific construction plans for field installation projects and special design projects.May assist with and help to analyze information from power flow studies to support electric system design and development of customer loading guidelines.May assist with the selection and design of substation equipment additions and upgrades.May assist with distributed energy resources planning and interconnection standards development.
