ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
WUSF is a comprehensive public media organization that operates WUSF 89.7, an NPR news radio station, and all-classical music radio station, WSMR 89.1 & 103.9, and provides digital content online, through newsletters, podcasts and social media and serves a weekly broadcast audience of greater than 350,000. WUSF is a department of the University of South Florida, with 89 employees and a budget of $11 million and provides internships to students. WUSF?s main studios are on the USF Tampa campus, with a broadcast and music performance studio on the USFSM campus and an office and news production studio on the USFSP campus.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Development for WUSF, this position serves as a key member of WUSF's major gifts team through the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors and prospects making gifts of $5,000 and above. Working closely with the WUSF Major Gifts team, WUSF's Membership department, and USF Foundation colleagues, The Assistant Director of Development will primarily focus on individual giving in support of leadership annual giving and major gift priorities that positively impact the operating support WUSF needs to thrive.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build enduring relationships with donors and prospects that strengthen donor interest and support for WUSF. Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors capable of making leadership and major gifts of $25,000 and above. Solicit challenges and sponsorships for pledge drives and special events. Work as a team with WUSF and other major gift colleagues to increase the number of donors making leadership level gifts and increasing major gifts support.
WUSF Development team members work with station and foundation databases to manage donor relationships, work collaboratively with station and foundation colleagues, and report on contact activities that align with fundraising goals and metrics. Work closely with the WUSF Senior Development Director in establishing and meeting goals for giving with an emphasis on increasing philanthropic support for key station priorities.
Host donors at a variety of station and community events varying from studio tours and sessions to community partner events. Some evening and weekend work is expected.
Collaborate with colleagues on written materials in a variety of media to promote fundraising opportunities and participate in events that will cultivate and steward donors.
Perform other development related duties as assigned by Senior Director of Development.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree and three years of experience related to development or other appropriate professional experience.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:
Experience working in relational databases, excellent interpersonal skills, competence in the Microsoft Office suite of products, strong collaborative work ethic. Excellent listening and communication skills. Demonstrated abilities to secure support by working directly with donors or clients. Leadership giving experience. CRM software expertise.
