SUMMARY
The Patient Financial Services Representative provides follow-up and collection of all patient and client accounts and is responsible for process improvement projects for the PFS department. Compliance with rules and regulations of all applicable federal, state and local laws as well as PMHC policies is a condition of employment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:
Responsible for the collection of delinquent account balances.Processes address correction notices.Processes uncollectible accounts being referred to outside collection agency according to department procedure.Records and reconciles receipts from collection agencies.Assists collection agencies with legal action and/or legal proceedings for delinquent guarantor accounts.Assists Patient Account Representatives with researching, identifying and rectifying any special circumstances affecting delayed payment of accounts.Enters charges for Voice Care accounts, Volunteer Fire Depts., and Physician Assistants.Enters receipts in Maestro.Assists Quality with chart audits.Sets up EFT payments.Maintains charge master.Completes Process Improvement Projects as assigned.Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.Responsible for personal development in attendance of education programs/seminars.Presents a professional, pleasant and positive image.Greets guests promptly and courteously.Assists the Patient Services Representative upon request.Understands and is responsive to the communication and development needs of patients ranging in age from adolescent to geriatrics. Utilizes the Language Line to assist in communication.

While performing the duties of this job, employees the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works with explosive, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The level of risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens is Classification (III), as outlined in the Hepatitis B Vaccine Program Policy.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with business and keyboarding classes.Three years experience in collections/billing of patient accounts.
