Mechanical Engineer Intern (Finance)

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
• Assists in the design and development of new machines. Performs engineering calculations to verify the suitability of mechanical equipment based on customer need
• Works with Engineering and Project Manager to ensure engineering and manufacturing timelines agree and makes adjustments as necessary
• Creates product testing methods and ensures recording of testing results for machinery. Performs quality inspections, red-lining engineering drawing such as general arrangements, drawings, etc. and follows through with corrections and certification for corrections, if needed
• Determines the overall cost to produce machine products. Work with marketing and sales teams to understand competitive pricing and what the market is able to bear. Gathers pricing information from contract manufacturers and suppliers. Ensures project is completed within budget
• Ensures designs and requirements are clear to the manufacturing team. Participates in making necessary changes to designs for manufacturability
• Review mechanical design for safety and reliability.
• Ensures completion of technical documentation, system mechanical drawings and as-built assembly drawings
• May perform other duties as required and assigned

Education and Experience:
• Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years of towards engineering degree required.
• Experience designing machine hydraulics and electrical systems preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge and understanding of heavy equipment and its operation.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, 2D and 3D design software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, etc. • Knowledge of lean manufacturing.
• Mechanical design abilities with a working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic controls, motors, and feedback components required.
• Strong written and oral communication to include technical communication skills (both oral and written) to accurately convey technical issues and information.
• Ability to read and produce mechanical drawings.
• Skills in time and project management.
• Proven analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to be highly innovative and creative.
• Ability to work well as a team member.
• Skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
