Field Safety Advisor (Healthcare)
Summary:
The Field Safety Advisor (FSA) puts Ontivity's field employees first by guiding them to have a safety mindset and career focused mentality. The FSA will engage employees routinely assisting them to reach their goals while maintaining a high level of safety, quality, and productivity. The FSA will also assist to minimize the risk of workplace incidents by providing safety and health support to company personnel wherever applicable. The FSA will drive implementation & enforcement industry best practices, company policy, and local/state/federal regulations & standards to strengthen the company's safety culture and guide employees to a successful work career while focused on retention.
Key Responsibilities:
Be a daily presence in the workplace to identify potential employee/subcontractor exposures to injuries/illnesses and institute safe work practices/procedures
Develop strong cross-functional relationships to ensure compliance with applicable best practices, regulations, and standards
Serve as a point of contact to provide subject matter expertise to employees and subcontractors through education, training, process development, and/or coaching
Conduct regular safety inspections and document findings for the purpose of identifying hazards and behaviors in the workplace to include recommending solutions to minimize or eliminate risk
Educate the workforce on and enforce all EH&S programs, procedures, policies, and standards in a manner that ensures compliance to federal, state, local, customer, and corporate EH&S requirements and regulations
Conduct incident investigations to identify contributing factors, root cause, and development of effective corrective action plans to prevent future occurrences
Provide general and technical consulting for site and facility safety related issues/concerns
Assists in ensuring subcontractor compliance and conducting subcontractor safety orientations
Proactively assist in preparation, review, and approval of project and/or job safety plans
Conduct job hazard assessment and recommend preventative/corrective action where EH&S hazards exist
Proactively stay abreast of changing and/or evolving safety matters, trends and changes to laws and regulations that impact the business
Help evaluate the need and assist in obtaining required safety equipment and PPE as necessary
Performs administrative duties for the EH&S department including but not limited to general data
entry and filing of training records, compliance documentation, and other EH&S records
Interact with all departments to assist with EH&S issues

Training Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver competency training as needed for key subjects
Acquire and retain train the trainer certifications for scopes applicable to the market
Identify employee career goals and assist with the progression to achieve goals
Validates skill sets with the Learning Management System and practical demonstrations
Strong focus to identify potential future leaders and foremen and assign relevant training to build internal crews
Assist field employees to keep certifications current
Create employee success plan to gather what is important to each employee
Work with operations to modify/adjust, if necessary, crews and/or schedules
HR/Ops Responsibilities
Provide input to the hiring manager to ensure the correct candidate is hired for the open position
Provide recommendations to operations regarding crew composition, rotations, and schedule to aid in maximizing efficiency and retention
Ensure crews are equipped with the proper tools and equipment for applicable scopes of work
Coordinate team building activities to promote an inclusive work environment and build team moral
Contribute data and information to the employee's manager for performance reviews
Build employee trust to assist in retention
Physical Demands:
Employee is occasionally required to stand for extended periods of time; traverse various types of terrain to reach job sites; sit for extended periods of time to include extended drive times; reach with hands and arms
Occasionally required to assist workers in performance of project tasks to include use of power tools or heavy equipment
Occasionally required to lift or move up to 80 pounds
Position requires working in all conditions including outdoors and in a professional office atmosphere

Ability to use data to drive decisions
Willing to work outside normal business hours to accommodate customer requirements to include occasional weekend work
Must have strong people skills, organizational, time management and prioritization abilities
Excellent attention to detail
Must be a team player and possess excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
Project planning skills
Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess valid driver's license
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
Must participate in random drug testing program
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required
Proficient in MS Office
One to three years of proven safety experience and/or construction experience
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations (CRF 1910 and 1926); ANSI standards; industry best practices; DOT requirements/guidelines
Additional Eligibility Qualifications or Experience:
Safety certifications to include but not limited to: OSHA, BCSP, ASSP, etc.
Train the trainer certifications to include but not limited to: First Aid/CPR, Climbing, Rescue, Confined Space, Rigging, etc.
Supervisory Requirements:
None required for this position
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position
Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with overtime requirements
Project schedules on occasion require modified workdays and shift times
Travel:
Must be willing to travel up to 70% of the time
Includes travel outside of home market for various periods of time
