POSITION SUMMARY:
Seeking a highly motivated and skilled Bioinformatician to provide expertise in analyzing laboratory-generated and publicly available high-throughput genetics and genomics data. Under the guidance of a faculty member, the candidate will apply their expertise to the design, implementation, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of omics data to support both laboratory and clinical genomics studies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support a range of bioinformatics analyses, including bulk DNA-seq, RNA-seq, proteomics, ATAC-Seq, single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics data and other omics related data processing and analysis.
Conduct quality control checks on bioinformatics datasets. Perform downstream analyses of bulk, single-cell, and spatial transcriptomic data, including differential gene expression analysis, gene set enrichment analysis, cell type annotation, and cell-cell communication analysis.
Develop and maintain advanced data analysis pipelines that integrate implementation, visualization, and database management of multidimensional datasets.
Provide collaborative researchers with computational data, visualizations, methodologies, documentation, and comprehensive bioinformatics support to achieve project goals and facilitate publications.
Stay updated on cutting-edge data analysis methods and recent publications in bioinformatics, genomics, and statistics.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
MS in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology, computer science or related field.
1-2+ years of experience in building and delivering NGS data analysis pipelines and software applications
PREFERRED:
Strong statistical analysis skills and experience with statistical software
Strong programming skills and proficient in programing languages with R or Python including relevant bioinformatics packages (e.g., Seurat, edgeR, limma).
Ability to work independently as well as work with others in a team
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with a wide range of individuals
